Book Week
Lesson: Science
Class: Reception Mrs Devey Year: 2015 - 2016
This year for International Book Week our theme was Space. We learned all about the planets and stars, including a mnemonic to help us remember the names of the planets, My (Mercury)Very (Venus) Easy (Earth) Method (Mars) Just (Jupiter)Suits (Saturn) Us (Uranus) Nicely (Neptune).
We made a model sun and pretended we were the planets orbiting it. We learned all about Neil Armstrong and Tim Peake too. We enjoyed singing songs about the planets and reciting a poem about rockets. We even made a rocket that could blast off! We read lots of space stories and our favourite was entitled Beegu.
Martin Lunn curator of astronomy at the Yorkshire Museum in York came to vist us and showed us the journey the constellation 'The Bear' makes in a special black out dome.
