Child Protection

The welfare and well being of all of our children is paramount at all times. Just as you would wish, we want them to be safe, secure and happy at all times. We follow the strict recommended procedures for Child Protection. Therefore if we are at all concerned about the welfare of any child, we will immediately contact the necessary authorities, who will then assume responsibility for the child in question.

The designated teacher for child protection is Mr Loftus.

The Governing Body have a safeguarding committee and issues relating to keeping children safe are always on the agenda of every full governing body meeting.

Behaviour Policy

We run a positive discipline system at St. Edmund's & St. Thomas'. Achievements are rewarded, actions which have a negative effect on other children are ignored until they become disruptive. If your child brings home a certificate that commends them on something they have done, please make a fuss of them.

At all times St Edmund's & St Thomas' promotes a positive ethos and encourages self-discipline and respect for all. However, sometimes situations occur which need remedial action. If your child behaves in a way that disrupts the rest of the class they will be moved somewhere else to work. If, despite interventions, they persistently cause disruption and disturb the work of other children, they will lose privileges like playtime or free choice activities. If poor behaviour continues, parents will be asked into school so that we can discuss how to resolve the problem.

If a child deliberately hurts another child or damages property then they will fill in an incident form and you will be asked to come in and discuss the incident. If a child fills in 3 forms in a term they will be excluded form the next class or school treat.
