Year two went on a Pilgrimage to St Thomas’ Church
Y2 Our Mission Day, Thursday 8th October 2015
Today was a special day! We began by reading aloud the school motto: ‘Love, Learn and Live like Jesus.’ Then we discussed what this meant, and we learnt some new words and phrases: school community; zest for life and love and compassion.
We thought about who makes up our school community; teachers, parents, Fr John, Fr Dominic, dinner supervisors, governors and of course the children are to name a few. We discussed what makes us a community and how we all look after and support each other.
We then took some of the key words from the mission statement and wrote out our own acrostic poems.
Our final activity for Mission Day was to a pilgrimage to St Thomas’ Church. Mrs Kendall and Fr Dominic told us many interesting facts about the church. The kind parishioners even gave us some juice and biscuits at the end of our visit. We had a lovely afternoon and it was wonderful that so many parents/grandparents could join us!
By spending time on our school mission statement today, we all understand that this motto underlines everything we do together as a school community. We all want the best for each other and our school.
Well done, everyone.
