Year 6 Trip to Western Approaches, Tate Gallery and The Slavery Museum
Lesson: History
Class: Year 5T Mrs Tyrrell Year: 2017 - 2018
What an incredible day we had in Liverpool!
The day started off with a very informative, moving visit to Western Approaches, a secret World War II bunker used by intelligence services during the Battle of the Atlantic. All children and staff thoroughly enjoyed this visit and we all came away filled with a greater understanding of the significant role our city played during World War II.
We then moved onto to the Tate Museum where children studied the Lichenstein 'Pop Art' exhibition. Children had a go of re-creating their own Pop Art work whist in the gallery. This will form a good start for their Pop Art projects with Miss Kelly and Mrs Grey.
Finally, as an introduction to our new history topic, we moved on to visit the International Slavery Museum. Children have now been 'inspired' and our ready to begin looking at this important historical period in greater detail.
Year 5 children will be participating in the same trip next week!
