Year 5F Mrs Farrell 2021 - 2022

Mrs Farrell

Welcome to Year 5F!

Year 5 and 6 are the Architects of our School.

Our School Mission Statement:

"I have come that they should have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

Inspired by the teachings of Christ, St Edmund's and St Thomas' Catholic Primary school encourages and guides our pupils and all our school community to have a strong sense of service, love and compassion. In this way, they are encouraged to develop a vision for what they want to achieve with a zest for living life to the full.

Some key points to note:

  • School starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.05 pm.  Drop off and pick up are at the usual junior gate.  Please be prompt as gates are closed when our class have gone in.
  • PE days are Wednesday and Friday. On these days children can come into school wearing their school PE kit.  All PE will be outside so as the weather gets cooler remember to wear a tracksuit. No football kits permitted.
  • On Thursday, the majority of Year 5F will be going swimming in the autumn term.
  • The rest of Year 5 and Year 6 will be completing their 'Golden Mile Challenge'.  Trainers can be brought in for this, as we will be running on the field. Y5 will alos join in once our swimming sessions have ended.
  • All children should bring a water bottle (clearly labelled with their name) to school to keep on their desk.
  • Children don't need to bring any extra equipment to school with them as we are providing everything they need in class. No backpacls permitted.
  • If you need to speak to me regarding any concerns or to give me important information please phone the office and they will pass the message onto me.

Please ensure your children continue to read daily for at least 30 minutes. They should make use of any books available to them.

We will be reading in multiple different ways and groups this year!

The Year 5 and 6 (and year 3 and 4) spelling list is attached below. The children will be set 10 spellings to learn each week on a Friday. They will then be tested on them the following Friday.

Times Tables

The children also have passwords for ttrockstars - please use the link above. They should be spending at least 15 minutes a day practising. Children should know all of the multiplication and division facts up to the 12 times table by year 4. They need to spend time each week working on any gaps in their knowledge. There will be a times table test each week, and the children will be told which tables to focus on.

Thank you for your continued support.
