Spring Term 2019

Class Teacher - Mrs Claro

Our School Mission Statement;

"I have come that they should have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

Inspired by the teachings of Christ, St Edmund's and St Thomas' Catholic Primary school encourages and guides our pupils and all our school community to have a strong sense of service, love and compassion. In this way, they are encouraged to develop a vision for what they want to achieve with a zest for living life to the full.

What will my child learn in year three and four?

RE - This term we will look at 'Community,' 'Giving and Recieveing' and 'Self-Disipline.' Please take time to read the 'The Wednesday Word,' every week as this will help your child prepare for the Sunday Gospel. (Year 4 please remember to attend your Sacramental meetings which the Church organise and run)

English - This term we will focus our writing on our trip to the World Museum based around our Ancient Egypt History topic. We will also look at several genres including; newspaper recount, diary entry, letters, picture books/novel study. We have all really focused in our individual classes on our year 3 or 4 targets and are constantly pushing well presented work and handwriting.

Maths - This term continues to be a strong focus on multiplication and division. Therefore we encourage children to make great use of 'Times Tables RockStars'. We will also cover, fractions and measures.

PE - 3S - Wednesday afternoon

3/4F - Wednesday afternoon and Swimming on Thursday morning.

4C - Thursday morning

In addition to this we aim to have regular practice running the 'golden mile' on the field. (PE Kits to be in at all times, staff will send these home for a freshen up at the end of each half term)

Foundation Subjects

As always this will be an exciting term covering, Ancient Egypt in History, Land Use in Geography, Forces and Magnets in Science and Mechanisms in Design Technology. Approaching Easter the children will be discovering the Easter Story through lovely art projects!

TRIP - We will be visiting Liverpool World Museum on Friday 1st February. By now you should have all received a letter with these details. Please return permission slips and payment to the school office as soon as possible.
