Autumn Term 2019

Class Teacher - Mrs Claro

Our School Mission Statement;

"I have come that they should have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

Inspired by the teachings of Christ, St Edmund's and St Thomas' Catholic Primary school encourages and guides our pupils and all our school community to have a strong sense of service, love and compassion. In this way, they are encouraged to develop a vision for what they want to achieve with a zest for living life to the full.

Welcome back!

I hope you have all had a fabulous summer and I'm looking forward to find out what you have been up to. We have an exciting and intresting term ahead.

What will my child learn in year three and four?

RE - We follow the 'Come and See' scheme of work and this is taught for two and a half hours a week recommended by the Liverpool Archdiocese. This term we will look at 'Homes,' 'Promises' and 'Visitors.' For our first topic could children please bring in a picture of their family for display. I will keep them safe and return at the end of the topic. :) Please take time to read the 'The Wednesday Word,' every week as this will help your child prepare for the Sunday Gospel. (Year 4 please remember to attend your Sacramental meetings which the Church organise and run)

English - This term we will focus our writing on our trip to Chester for our history topic on the Romans. We will also look at several genres including; newspaper recount, diary entry, letters, picture books/novel study. There will be a strong focus on spellings and handwriting in the autumn term, so please support this at home too!

Maths - This term focuses largely on 'Number'. We will be covering Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, all the time developing our mastery skills. Please continue to work on 'Times Tables Rock Stars' at home as in year 4 it is expected that all children know all their times tables.

PE - In the Autumn term children will be swimming every week. This will start the week commencing 9.9.19 so please have swimming kits ready.

In addition to this we aim to have regular practice running the 'golden mile' on the field. (PE kits to be in at all times, I will send these home for a freshen up at the end of each term)
