Year 1/2 Mrs Greaney 2021 - 2022

Mrs Greaney

Our School Mission Statement;

"I have come that they should have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

Inspired by the teachings of Christ, St Edmund's and St Thomas' Catholic Primary school encourages and guides our pupils and all our school community to have a strong sense of service, love and compassion. In this way, they are encouraged to develop a vision for what they want to achieve with a zest for living life to the full.

Welcome to Year 1/2

Mrs.Greaney's Class

Welcome to our class page. I will be updating this page with information about our class and any important upcoming events within our school calender.

Firstly, can I just say how happy I am with all of the children. They have settled into their new class so well and have been working really hard. They are quickly learning the new routines and they have been having fun exploring our lovely and very large classroom! They are already setting an excellent example to others and I am very proud of them. I am really looking forward to our year together and we have lots of exciting things planned! I would also like to welcome Mrs.Cassin to our class. She is a classroom assistant and will be working alongside the children supporting them with their learning. We are very much enjoying getting to know the class together and finding out all about them.

Years 1 and 2 and the 'Authors' of our school and our curriculum has a strong focus on speaking and listening, reading and writing. We will be working together as a phase group alongside Mrs.Tyrrell's and Mrs.Clayton's class and the children will be having lots of opportunities to share ideas with one another and showcase their work.

Here are a few important pieces of information for our class:

  • School starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.05pm. Children enter and leave through our garden gates.

  • PE days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Please send your child to school wearing their school PE kit and trainers.

  • Please ensure all jumpers and cardigans are clearly marked with your child's name.

  • All children should bring a water bottle to school again clearly marked with their name.

  • Fresh fruit is provided every day but your child can bring their own heathy snack for playtime if they wish.

  • Children don't need to bring any extra equipment to school as everything is provided for them in class.

  • Reading books are sent home daily. These are linked to their read, write inc lessons and it is really important that they are returned to school everyday.

  • Homework is sent home on a Friday. Children will receive weekly spellings to learn as well as a maths activity to complete. Please return homework by the following Thursday.

  • We will have a weekly spelling test on a Thursday.

  • Every Tuesday and Friday afternoon we will be having a carousel of activites. Children will move between our 3 KS1 classes to take part in exciting music, art and D&T activities linked to our topic this term which is called 'We Are Family'

  • Every Friday afternoon we will be having a 'star of the week' assembly. This will be an opportuntiy for us all to get together within our phase group to celebrate children's good work and behaviour.

  • If you need to speak to me regarding any concerns or important information, please leave a message via the school office and they will pass it on to me.

Many thanks,
